1975 Mossman Tennessee Flattop Guitar

Photo for Ad 117617

(Serial No. 75-1651) My first "real" guitar was a Mossman. Back during the "dark days" of Gibson and Martin in the mid-70s, Mossman was consistently making high quality hand built guitars. The pride of craftsmanship shows, as each employee who worked on the guitar signed their initials on the label. They have stood the test of time and are still considered outstanding guitars. Excellent condition with nicely grained two piece mahogany back and sides, solid Sitka spruce top, marquetry top binding and soundhole rosette, ebony fingerboard with pearl dots, nickel hardware and an ebony bridge. 1 11/16 inch bone nut. Built in the original Winfield, KS shop. Finish and hardware is all original with no repairs noted. Its not a case queen. The guitar sounds great so it was played. It shows some nicks, dings, playing wear and finish checking as this guitar was used to make music. The neck has just been reset by local luthier Richie Dotson so the action is nice and low with a nice tall saddle that can be lowered if desired. Good action and playability. This is an excellent vintage hand built US made bluegrass guitar with lots of volume and tone. Here is a link to a YouTube video of this instrument as played by Richie. Why play the same thing everyone else has? Comes with the original blue lined hardshell case thats been painted brown on the outside...USD $1900
