1953 Martin 0-18T Tenor Guitar

Photo for Ad 118106

1953 Martin 0-18T in beautiful condition both aesthetically and playabilty wise. Very robust, even tone with a dry, woody richness that you just can't get from modern instruments. Very light build and LOUD! Spruce top, mahogany back, sides, and neck, Brazillian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, ebony nut, 23" scale length, 1 3/16" nut width. There is some pick/fingernail rash around the soundhole and a stray ding or two but the instrument is 100% crack free and shows no signs of previous repairs. It really is in beautiful vintage condition. There is an oversized endpin in place where a pickup jack once was and the bridge pins are not original. The guitar has had a recent professional refret. This tenor is currently setup for GDAE (octave mandolin) tuning and plays wonderful up and down the neck. The 12th fret action is at 6/64" on the G, 5/64" on the E, with .010" of relief in the neck. CGDA or DGBE tuning would be fine with different string gauges. Comes with a modern Martin hardshell case that has been retrofitted to work for this instrument.
