One-Of-A-Kind Rare 1970s Koontz Electric Mandolin

Photo for Ad 130860

What is the rarest of the rare? It could very well be this electric mandolin hand crafted by Sam Koontz. Why? Because he made only one! Yes, this one! Sam Koontz was a designer and instrument builder for the Standel Company. Sam opened his own shop in the 1970s and continued to build his unique instruments until his passing in the early ‘80s. This incredible creation features a solid mahogany body with a highly figured set maple neck, the proprietary Koontz peg head and the pick guard mounted Koontz version of the Gibson EM-200 pickup.
A real feast for the eyes, the ebony fret board has large mother of pearl block inlays, is triple bound and has action mandolin players dream about. The custom built chrome tailpiece is inlayed with grapes and leaves and the body is bound in 6 ply Boltaron. Its stylish double cutaway affords easy access to the entire 20 fret fingerboard and the neck is slim and fast.

$3,500.00 with. oblong hard case
