1963 Vega Earl Scruggs 5-String Banjo

Photo for Ad 135296

No musician is more associated with the 5-string banjo than Earl Scruggs. So it was natural that banjo companies would come calling for an endorsement. Vega was the first banjo manufacturer to use the Scruggs name on a banjo, and redesigned their Tubaphone line to create a model to meet the needs of Bluegrass players.
Utilizing the Tubaphone tone ring, the Scruggs model featured a 2-piece maple neck with a bound ebony fingerboard adorned with pearl block inlays, a matching maple resonator, a double co-ordinator rod system, adjustable truss rod and Grover Planetary style tuning machines.

This example is In extremely nice condition with some finish wear on the back of the neck and fret wear in the first position only. The sound is lively with that “up the neck”, ringing tone that denotes a true Bluegrass style instrument " a historic banjo that will please discriminating players who love a really sparkly tone.

with import hard case.
