24th January 2016 at the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow.

Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/ (http://www.celticconnections.com/).

Country: United States. Style: Old Time & Bluegrass.

Lineup: Béla Fleck (banjo/baritone banjo/banjo ukulele), Abigail Washburn (banjo/cello banjo/v) and guest: Kris Drever (v/g).

Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn are from New York City and Evanston, IL (also growing up in Minnesota and Washington DC), and have toured as a duo since 2013 (this time bringing their young son who was frequently mentioned in their on-stage comments). The contrast between his 3 finger style and her clawhammer one particularly interesting. Their performance leaned much more than I was expecting towards traditional tunes and songs. In the past I have seen Fleck in a trio with Zakir Hussain & Edgar Meyer, the Flecktones, and his own Acoustic Trio with Casey Driessen and Bryan Sutton, as well as Washburn with Uncle Earl. However the only photos I have taken are of Fleck with Oumou Sangaré, Washburn with her own band, plus both of them with Solas earlier in this Festival, see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/b%C3%A9lafleck/ (https://www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/b%c3%a9lafleck/), and www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/abigailwashburn/ (https://www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/abigailwashburn/).
In this photo: Fleck plays a Gold Tone BUS (Soprano Banjo Ukulele).
