Mark O'Connor is from Seattle and now lives in NYC after spending time in Nashville and other places. He first came to public notice winning contests on the fiddle and other string instruments as a teenager in the 1970s. In his long career he has moved between Bluegrass and Classical Music and Jazz. In 2014 he married Maggie Dixon and, after his son Forrest from an earlier marriage decided to pursue a musical career, a family band was formed (also including Forrest's partner Kate Lee).
