Clawcamp East 2016 Set For July 8-10

Vinton, Ohio — Dan Levenson's Clawcamp East returns to his residence at 980 Rowlesville Road July 8-10.

On the heels of Dan's newest publication, Beyond the Waterfall: Extraordinary Tunes for Fiddle and Clawhammer Banjo, Clawcamp East is an intensive skills building workshop for clawhammer banjo players.

All levels are welcome including those who have never played before, and while other camps may feature a large number of classes and instructors, Clawcamp East will have just one of the best and most well known teachers in the country in Dan Levenson.

Cost of the weekend camp is $350.00 which includes meals and rough camping or floor space. Trailers and RVs are welcome.

During the week-end, campers will work on all aspects of clawhammer banjo playing including both right- and left-hand styles, double thumb, drop thumb, rolls (often mistakenly called "the Galax Lick"), the "chuck," tuning, timing, hammers, pulls, and WHY and where you would choose to use them.

Topics such as playing position, ergonomics of motion (how not to get HURT in the process of having a good time!) and how to play nice with others will also be covered. There will be an intensive listening session and other sessions can include a session on writing tab and one on performance techniques.
