That one will certainly get you started. I've seen them at better prices, and you would have probably liked a RK-35 OR 36 better, but with a good set-up, you can go a long way into your banjo journey...

I've never cared much for melodic playing. I don't seem to be able to hear the melody very well in most tunes that I've heard played in that style.
I spikes are installed properly, the edges will be filed down to where you wont have to worry about cutting a finger.
